Sigmar Polke The retrospective of Sigmar Polke (1941-2010) at Palazzo Grassi in Venice is the first major exhibition in Italy dedicated to the German artist. The entire space of Palazzo Grassi is dedicated to Polke’s works, highlighting the diversity of his techniques and formats including painting, drawing, installation and film.
The exhibition spans the artist’s entire career, from the 1960s to the 2000s. On display are nearly 90 works from the Pinault Collection, including the monumental work Axial Age (2005-2007), as well as loans from major public and private collections. Although the piece that really caught my attention was the "Diabolik" themed one. the use of paint, objects and resin manipulation gave the piece more depth and as well movement and life. So much so that it inspired me to try and use resin myself
